WHY DO YOU WANT YOUR WEDDING CAPTURED ON VIDEO?
We’re having a very small wedding with only family so we wanted to be able to share our day with friends and family even though they couldn’t be there. Kauai is such a beautiful place, we wanted to capture more than just still images of the location and i love the idea of it being more of a story telling moment than if we were to just do photography. We both agreed immediately that we wanted to have both for our day.
WHY DID YOU PICK ME?
We had already chosen a photographer and I spent months trying to find someone who had a similar editing style to our photographer so that the two would look cohesive. Your style is exactly what I was looking for, cinematic and emotional without all the cheese gimmicks that I saw in a lot of other videographers work. I watched a ton of the videos you’ve posted and I really connected with them so I knew I wanted you to capture our day.
WHAT DO YOU DO? HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAYS?..WHAT’S IMPORTANT IN LIFE?
Neither of us do particularly interesting. We’re homebodies. We aren’t big party people, we both have a lot of social anxiety which is a big reason for wanting a small wedding. I have a huge family and while family is definitely one of the most important things in my life, we both felt that, with our budget and knowing how we wanted our wedding to go, an intimate family affair was the way to go.
ALEX AND ROB’S KAUAI WEDDING.
It’s sort of a long story. We’ve been together for almost 10 years (December 2013). We met when I was 16 and he was 18 in high school. On our 4th anniversary he took us to go spend the day with baby wolves because wolves are his favorite animal. We got to pet them and feed them, it was very cool (Only important for the end of the story). Fast forward to August 2021, I we were up in the mountains in Colorado for the day (we live close to the mountains but not in the mountains) and we had stopped by our favorite rock shop. I was looking at the jewelry section and showed him this ring I’ve had my eye on, longer than I’ve known him and it’s never been sold in that time. He says “well for that kind of money, it’ll have to be an engagement ring.” I mean, if you insist! We leave the store and come back on our anniversary that December to buy it. He says “you can have it now as long as you promise to say yes when I ask” again, if you insist! My dream ring and my best friend? Sign me up. February comes and we’re taking a trip to Oahu to see my cousin. He knows that Sharks are *my* favorite animal ever so on our second to last day in Hawaii we went diving with Sharks. Simultaneously very scary and incredibly cool. We stop by the beach when we get back from the dive to warm up and dry off. As we’re packing up he says “Before we leave.. We’ve spent 8 years together and we’ve both been able to meet our favorite animals. One, substantially scarier than the other, but if we can survive that, we can survive anything.” And in the middle of him asking if I’ll marry him I may have interrupted him and said “of course I’ll marry you” because it wasn’t really a matter of “if” but “when”. I obviously already had the ring, which i had him officially put on me.. We were at the north shore of Oahu and while we were out shopping and we ended up buying an engagement ring for him too. A beautiful Koa wood and titanium one we found at one of the shops that just happened to fit perfectly. We spent the rest of that day on the beaches and driving around the coast together.
THIS VENUE? WHY THIS PLACE ABOVE ANYWHERE ELSE?
Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens is stunning (well it looks like it from the photos) and since we wanted a small wedding, this venue fit our needs perfectly. It’s beautiful and there’s so much variety in the scenery that we can utilize. Rob also loves Japanese architecture and this garden has a Japanese teahouse that we can take pictures at which I loved.
