The Falls at Reed’s Island – Wedding Video

Why do you want to capture your wedding on video?

To show family and friends as it will just be us there. And to look back on over time and remember better than we would on our own.

Why did you pick me?

We researched for a really long time and your videos stood out to us. We love your vibe and style of videos!

What do you do?..How do you spend your days?..What’s important in life?

We both have somewhat demanding corporate office jobs by day and take them very seriously. However, on our off time we like to have a good time and relax with our friends and family. We live in Saskatchewan Canada and there is not much to do here so we travel when we can. I have a 10 year old daughter named Ryla. Her and Danny met when she was 3 so we have been a little family for a long time and love hanging out together (most of the time lol)! She doesn’t remember a time without her Danny :). I think that pretty much sums us up!

The Proposal

Danny made our proposal a dream day. We were on a trip in Oahu at the time. The first day we arrived we swam with sharks on the north shore in the morning and spent the rest of the day soaking in the north shore. Then that evening around sunset he took me to a place called Spitting Caves (I’m sure you have heard of it). We got there and all of a sudden he handed this guy his phone and asked him to take a picture of us. Now, if you know Danny he is pretty reserved and doesn’t like to get his picture taken or interact with strangers if he doesn’t have to. He’s an accountant and stereotypically quite introverted. So that threw me right off and I clued in something more was going on. But I was truly shocked when he got down on one knee and proposed! I don’t remember what he said and made him repeat it back to me later haha. He cried and my mouth was just wide open the whole time trying to take in that I was getting proposed to. Of course I said yes and then we spent some time after getting our pictures taken by the original “stranger” who was actually our photographer. It was an incredible grand gesture and was truly my dream to be proposed to like that. I had told him years before “if we ever get married I’d love for you to propose on a cliff in Hawaii at sunset” and that’s exactly what he did 🥹.

Robyn & Danny’s Wedding at Reeds Island Hilo

The Falls at Reed Island is an Airbnb we had looked at going to probably 5 years ago just for fun. When we started planning our wedding we thought of every possible type of wedding and venue all over the world. Nothing was feeling completely right for us until we remembered this Airbnb. They are usually quite booked up in advance but they had the exact 3 days we wanted open and it just felt like fate. As we started planning our little elopement everything just felt right and started falling into place. What a beautiful secluded setting we will have to just be together and have our little moment to commit our lives to one another.

Will you be doing any rituals during the ceremony?

We have Michaela Larson doing the ceremony, so it will be pretty authentically Hawaiian. While obviously we are not Hawaiian, Hawaii holds such a special place in our hearts and we both just feel incredibly grounded and alive when we are in Hawaii. We felt the elements she includes in her ceremonies resonate with us. The most important part for us both will be the vows which will be personalized.
